Northwestern Mutual has announced the appointment of Jeff Sippel (pictured above) as executive vice president and chief information officer. In this role, Sippel will head the organization responsible for advancing Northwestern Mutual’s technology architecture, infrastructure and cloud services, reliability, service support and cybersecurity. He will also serve on the company’s senior leadership team.
“Jeff’s extensive technology background, coupled with his successful leadership in accelerating our client experience strategy over the last few years, make him an ideal fit for this role,” said John Schlifske, chairman, president and CEO of Northwestern Mutual. “His industry experience and focus on building technology that is innovative, secure and reliable will continue to have a meaningful impact on our clients, advisors and company in the years ahead.”
Prior to his new role, Sippel served as vice president of client experience, leading digital strategy and financial planning strategies since joining Northwestern Mutual in 2019. Before that, he served as chief technology officer and chief strategy officer at Acorns, a fintech specializing in micro-investing and robo-investing. He also served as CTO at Edo Interactive.
Sippel succeeds Neal Sample, who stepped down from the role of senior vice president and CIO to pursue other opportunities, Northwestern Mutual said.
